This recipe is a favorite from my days in sorority at the U and comes from my advisor Rosemary Wixom (the new General Primary President).
1 cup sugar
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup butter
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Combine all ingredients except vanilla in large saucepan (it might boil over). Bring to a boil. Boil 1 minute. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
I have a variation of this recipe, and this syrup is so-o-o good--to the point of being addictive! The ingredient proportions are different in my recipe. I'm going to make Erin's recipe and see how it differs from mine. Eventually I may post mine if it's different enough.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like the amazing syrup you get with the french toast at Magleby's in Spanish Fork. I'm going to have to give it a try...once I get some buttermilk. :)
ReplyDeleteI made the syrup this morning, and loved it! Thanks for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteI made this with Peggy this morning and everyone (Shawn, Kelsi, Cohen, Peg, Barb) lo-o-o-o-v-ed it. The only ingredient we had to get at the store was buttermilk. Now what do we do with the rest of the buttermilk?
